MCIPS
Introduction
Increasingly over the past 10 years the National Vocational
Qualification in Procurement/Supply Chain Management has become
recognised by both organisations and individuals, as a valid and robust
alternative to the traditional examination based route to full
Corporate Membership of the Chartered Institute of Purchasing and
Supply (MCIPS). Not only do Supply Chain Management NVQs provide a structured
framework for learning, but they are also the ideal solution for
measuring the effective implementation of that learning into the
workplace.
Overview of the Standards
The NVQ Standards are designed to cover a wide range of Supply Chain
Management roles and are therefore available at levels 2, 3, 4 and 5
with each level having it’s own clearly defined list of core and
optional units.
The core units at each respective level of the NVQ standards focus on
those competencies which are deemed to be fundamental to any individual
operating in a supply chain role at that level, and therefore must be
completed by all students as part of their qualification.
The optional units are contained within the specialist sections of the
NVQ and it is these sections which provide Qube Vocational Development
Ltd, with the scope to bespoke the qualification to meet the specific
needs of both the individual and their employer. The specialist
sections cover supply chain activities such as Supplier and Contract
Management, Developing and Contributing to Strategies, Sourcing,
Inventory and Materials Management Transport and Distribution,
Warehousing and finally, Project Management.
